  •  Most patients develop a fluid collection between mesh and abdominal wall.  only a small proportion however will be symptomatic.  We only aspirate large symptomatic seromas.  Most resolve within 3 months.
  • 2-3% of patients experience self limiting localised burning pain.  10mg amitriptyline will help.
  • Always remember the possibility of a missed samll bowel enterotomy - unnwell, nausea, fever, tachycardia, distension, ileus,
  • If a cellulitis develops start antibiotics.
